February 2011
Here's a broadside of GMTX 9041, note the radial trucks. This unit is former EMD 3, an SD60 demonstrator.
MBTX 1123 is nearly ready to leave Juniata after its overhaul.
Engines at the circle have a lot of snow on them this morning.
GTLX 8554 is being overhauled and modified for Fortescue Metals Group of Australia.
NS 5440 is enjoying its last days as an SD50. It will soon be stripped down for conversion to SD40E.
NS 6559 will soon be stripped down for conversion to SD60E.
March 2011
NS 5413 has been moved to 27 track.
NS 6559 and GMTX 9041 are nose to nose. Crews started torching off 6559's cab, but stopped half way.
Hood sections from an SD40E rebuild sit on the PRR flatcar. They'll soon be taken inside and mated to the appropriate engine.
PRLX 8531 is a former UP SD90MAC-H. It's being overhauled and repainted for Fortescue Metals Group in Australia.
They're pretty far along with stripped down the 5413 in this photo. 5413 will become NS 6340.
The Junita Shops as seen from Thompsons Pharmacy. That's the Smith Shop in the foreground.
April 2011
Here's NS 6119 sporting a cab similar to a standard EMD cab, yet much different.
A closer look at the modified EMD-ish cab that recabbed SD40-2s will be getting. Note the numberboards and the slanted windshield.
Still not much progress on NS 2888. This will eventually become a road slug for the GP22ECOs which Juniata is building. I suspect the other, NS 2885, is currently being worked on.
Under the blue tarps is a pair of EMD H engines out of SD90MAC-Hs.
What railroad is this anyway? ex-UP 90MAC-Hs are seen at the backshop.
Lots of variety at the turntable today.
Looks like 2864 is about to get stripped down to become a road slug.
GTLX 8541 former UP SD90MAC-H.
NS 6553 was recently retired. It will be used for a PR43C or SD60E.
May 2011
A couple of ex-UP 90MACs and an MBTX GP40MC at the circle.
CSXT 1601 and 1602 getting some finishing touches.
NS 5311 is seen shortly after it was repainted.
Interesting group of engines here today. SD40-2, RP20CD, SD90MAC-H.
Look inside the building and you'll see another Railpower unit under construction.
PRLX 8530 SD90MAC-H is getting overhauled and repowered with a 16-710G engine.
NS 5421 is on 27 track. Crews have begun stripping it down for conversion to SD40E.
Here's an interesting scene with a pair of SD40-2s in for recabbing.

PRLX 8530 is pulled onto the turntable. SD90MAC-Hs are big engines. The turntable is 110 feet long and won't fit a 90MAC with a SW1500, so they must use a Trackmobile or RailKing.
Don't see one of these here every day. A Hulchers sidewinder makes its way through the shop area after rerailing some equipment.
GTLX 8541 is here for overhaul and a 16-710G engine.
NS 3336 will be getting repainted soon. It was seen at the cleaning shed soon after this photo was taken.
June 2011
PW 2008 is next to the treatment plant. It finally left Juniata this month.
NS 6117 is getting a nose job. Crews are torching off its old cab and nose and it will get a new "Admiral Cab" and an overhaul.
A 90' flatcar is loaded with hoodsections at the backshop.
MBTX 1117 is one of the last few MBTA GP40MCs here for overhaul.
Wide view of the backshop.
NS 7216 is seen on the 'display track' along Chestnut Avenue. It's in for some work, and you can see it already has some new wheels. It will be back in service eventually.
NS 999 on the display track.
There aren't many of the PC SW1500s left on NS. Here's 2231 on the display track.
Here's a first look at NS 6902. It's now in service. The shop has two more SD60Es in progress but it's going to be a while before the next one is completed as they're just bare frames at this time.
Four RP-E4C frames are seen in this shot from Chestnut Avenue.
Here's the frame for NS 600 which is going to be a slug for the GP22ECO units and will be called a GPTEB.
Two hood sections seen in front of the smith shop.
This long hood belongs to NS 728.
This is the frame for NS 728. The last RP-E4C released was 727, so it looks like it will be a while before another is finished.
NS 5531 is still at the shop.
Wide view of stored retired engines at Juniata.
In this view at the steel shop we see Railpower genset hoods, Admiral Cabs, and EMD cabs.
