June 2011
EMD cab noses in front of the last two unmodified PC GP38s on NS.
North side of the Erecting & Machine Shop built 1925 by the PRR. This is where much of the work gets done at Juniata.
July 2011
Three of the four F units are still sitting outside the Miscellaneous shop after their trip last month.
Surprise...look what's sitting outside. This is NS 4105 which is slated to become NS 5900. It's being upgraded to GP22ECO.
Check out the 8-710ECO engine on NS 5900. It seems so small compared to the 16-645 engine it replaced.
NS 4271 is at the backshop. I understand her HEP engine needs a little work.
Wide view of the turntable.
This slug hood slated for NS 736 has a note on it saying the bell stays. I wonder what they have planned.
Here's a Railpower GenSet under construction inside the shop.
Lots of power at the circle today.
Three FMG SD90MAC rebuilds poking out of the backshop.
This UP SD40-2 frame will be used to build a Railpower RP20CD.
MBTA unit. There are only a few left to go through the shop for overhaul.
This Railpower unit is an RP20BD for CSX.
NS 5900 GP22ECO.
This SD40-2 will soon get a new 'Admiral Cab.'
The CSX RP20BD is back inside the shop.
The 110 foot PRR turntable at Juniata.
August 2011
Here's the third and final Railpower RP20CD for CSX, #1603.
NS 5349 will surely leave Juniata without its blue paint.
GTLX 8541 SD90MAC-H, soon to be SD9043MAC.
CSXT 1603 RP20CD.
Wide view at the turntable with a couple 90MACs, an MBTA unit, and a future SD60E.
4271 is at the circle.
CSXT 1320 is a brand new Railpower RP20BD built by the Juniata Shops on a GE B36-7 frame.
This SD60 may be for the SD60E program.
This is interesting. SD60E and Admiral cab sitting next to eachother.
Two hood section for SD60Es sit on a 'hay wagon' at the west end of the shops. This are from two former HLCX units which NS purchased earlier this year.
A Conrail hood section from an SD50/SD40E.
At the east end of the freight shop they have lots of spare cabs of three types sitting around.
NS 5901 GP22ECO is sitting outside.
The 8-710G3A ECO engine seems so small compared to the 16-645 it replaces.
NS 2220 was retired recently but is still in use at the Juniata Shops switcher. Here she is taking an SD40-2 to the Smith Shop to get a new Admiral cab.
In the gondolas under the blue tarps are EMD 265H engines from the SD90MAC-Hs being rebuilt for Fortescue Metals Group.
2220 passes the 5901 with the SD40-2 in for a recab.
September 2011
Night-time view at the Juniata Shops turntable.
Four units are on the display track including a retired SW1500, the stored BP4, and two FMG units.
More cabs have shown up plus some genset hood sections.
FMG 909 SD9043MAC, a former SD90MAC-H.
FMG logo on the side.
Two FMG units as seen from Martin General Stores lot.
CSX 1320 is still hanging around. It left soon after this photo was taken, however.
October 2011
NS 6536 is a former CNW SD60 which is entering the SD60E program.
The RailKing moves this naked frame into the E&M shop. It will become the basis for one of two remaining RP20BD gensets for M&ET.
This RP20CD genset is marked only as UP 3090. I'm pretty certain this became UPY 887.
MET 2003.
November 2011
The RailKing is used to shove the MET 2004 RP20BD into the E&M shop.
NS 6570 will enter the SD60E program.
First photo of one of the GPTEB road slugs that I'm aware of. To be mated with the GP22ECOs.
There's a little variety at the shop today.
