Rebuilt From Rebuilt As Rbld Notes CR 6097 SD45 CR Q#1 testbed by 4/91 Repainted as NS 1000 11/2006 Work Done: - Engine and traction motors removed along with many other unneeded accessories - Modifications to load test prime-movers from other locomotives, including GEs Notes: - 6/1968 - Built new as Erie Lackawanna 3632 SD45 with dual control stands and a Leslie SU-3L horn - Late 1975 - Repainted red/white/blue as a bicentennial unit - 4/1976 - Acquired by Conrail as CR 6097 - 1978-3/1980 - Repainted into Conrail blue sometime during this period - 6/1986 - Photographed in the Altoona dead lines but not retired until 8/4/86 - 4/1991 - Entered service as a testbed at the Juniata Shops by this date in its old blue paint numbered CR 006 - 11/1991 - Repainted all gray at Conrail Q#1 - 6/1999 - Acquired by Norfolk Southern, remaining Conrail Q#1 until... - 11/2006 - Repainted into NS black as NS 1000 (since it's not a unit on the active roster, there's no roster conflict with the SD70ACe)
